Brain Injury

A caregiver assists an adult with a brain injury in walking with a walker in a bright, cozy room with a window, potted plant, and exercise equipment. At Larkspur Care, we provide person-centred support for adults living with an acquired brain injury (ABI), helping each person rebuild confidence, develop independence and live a meaningful life on their own terms. We understand that a brain injury can affect people in very different ways, including their memory, communication, emotions, behaviour, relationships and ability to manage everyday tasks.

Our support starts with understanding the whole person—their strengths, needs, routines, preferences and goals—and working alongside them rather than doing things for them. We can support people to develop or relearn everyday living skills, manage their home, access the community, build relationships, pursue education or employment, and receive personal care where needed.

We recognise that consistency, patience and trusted relationships can be particularly important following a brain injury, so we aim to provide reliable support from staff who genuinely know and understand the individual. Guided by our values of Integrity, Compassion and Choice, we work alongside the person, their family and relevant professionals to adapt support as their needs, abilities and aspirations change, always asking: “Does this improve the life of the person we support?”
